Paul Defends His Apostleship

11 I wish that you would ^(A)bear with me in a little ^(B)foolishness; but ^[a]indeed you are bearing with me. ² For I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy; for I ^(C)betrothed you to one husband, to ^(D)present you as a pure virgin to Christ. ³ But I am afraid that, as the ^(E)serpent deceived Eve by his trickery, your minds will be led astray from sincere and pure devotion to Christ. ⁴ For if ^[b]one comes and preaches ^(F)another Jesus whom we have not preached, or you receive a ^(G)different spirit which you have not received, or a ^(H)different gospel which you have not accepted, this you ^(I)tolerate ^(J)very well!

²³ For ^(A)the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the ^(B)head of the church, He Himself ^(C)being the Savior of the body. ²⁴ But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything.

^25 (D)Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and ^(E)gave Himself up for her, ^26 (F)so that He might sanctify her, having ^(G)cleansed her by the ^(H)washing of water with ^(I)the word, ²⁷ that He might ^(J)present to Himself the church ^[a]in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be ^(K)holy and blameless. ²⁸ So husbands also ought to ^(L)love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself; ²⁹ for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ also does the church, ³⁰ because we are ^(M)parts of His ^(N)body. ^31 (O)For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. ³² This mystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church. ³³ Nevertheless, as for you individually, each husband is to ^(P)love his own wife the same as himself, and the wife must see to it that she ^(Q)respects her husband.
