13 “When Ephraim(A) saw his sickness,
    and Judah his sores,
then Ephraim turned to Assyria,(B)
    and sent to the great king for help.(C)
But he is not able to cure(D) you,
    not able to heal your sores.(E)
14 For I will be like a lion(F) to Ephraim,
    like a great lion to Judah.
I will tear them to pieces(G) and go away;
    I will carry them off, with no one to rescue them.(H)
15 Then I will return to my lair(I)
    until they have borne their guilt(J)
    and seek my face(K)
in their misery(L)
    they will earnestly seek me.(M)

Israel Unrepentant

“Come, let us return(N) to the Lord.
He has torn us to pieces(O)
    but he will heal us;(P)
he has injured us
    but he will bind up our wounds.(Q)
After two days he will revive us;(R)
    on the third day(S) he will restore(T) us,
    that we may live in his presence.
Let us acknowledge the Lord;
    let us press on to acknowledge him.
As surely as the sun rises,
    he will appear;
he will come to us like the winter rains,(U)
    like the spring rains that water the earth.(V)
