¹⁵ For this reason Christ is the mediator^(A) of a new covenant,^(B) that those who are called^(C) may receive the promised^(D) eternal inheritance^(E)—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.^(F)

²⁴ “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me^(A) has eternal life^(B) and will not be judged^(C) but has crossed over from death to life.^(D)

²⁸ For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.^(A)

³ What does Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”^[a](A)

²³ The words “it was credited to him” were written not for him alone, ²⁴ but also for us,^(A) to whom God will credit righteousness—for us who believe in him^(B) who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead.^{(C) 25} He was delivered over to death for our sins^(D) and was raised to life for our justification.^(E)

Praise for Spiritual Blessings in Christ

³ Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,^(A) who has blessed us in the heavenly realms^(B) with every spiritual blessing in Christ.

²⁰ I have been crucified with Christ^(A) and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.^(B) The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God,^(C) who loved me^(D) and gave himself for me.^(E)

⁶ Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son^(A) into our hearts,^(B) the Spirit who calls out, “Abba,^[a] Father.”^{(C) 7} So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.^(D)
