¹⁷ So ^(A)Ephron’s field, which was in Machpelah, which faced Mamre, the field and the cave which was in it, and all the trees which were in the field, that were ^[a]within all the confines of its border, ^[b]were deeded over ¹⁸ to Abraham as a possession ^(B)in the presence of the sons of Heth, before all who entered the gate of his city. ¹⁹ After this, Abraham buried his wife Sarah in the cave of the field of Machpelah facing Mamre (that is, Hebron), in the land of Canaan. ²⁰ So the field and the cave that was in it ^[c]were ^(C)deeded over to Abraham for ^[d]a burial site by the sons of Heth.

⁹ Then his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in ^(A)the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, facing Mamre, ^10 (B)the field which Abraham purchased from the sons of Heth; there Abraham was buried with his wife Sarah.

²⁹ Then Isaac breathed his last and died, and was ^(A)gathered to his people, an ^(B)old man ^[a]of ripe age; and ^(C)his sons Esau and Jacob buried him.

Jacob Dies

²⁹ Then he commanded them and said to them, “I am about to be ^(A)gathered to my people; ^(B)bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in ^(C)the field of Ephron the Hittite, ³⁰ in the ^(D)cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is opposite Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought along with the field from Ephron the Hittite as a ^[a]burial site. ³¹ There they buried ^(E)Abraham and his wife ^(F)Sarah, there they buried ^(G)Isaac and his wife Rebekah, and there I buried Leah— ³² the field and the cave that is in it, purchased from the sons of Heth.”

⁵ ‘^(A)My father made me swear, saying, “Behold, I am about to die; in my grave ^(B)which I dug for myself in the land of Canaan, there you shall bury me.” Now then, please let me go up and bury my father; then I will return.’”

¹³ for his sons carried him to the land of Canaan and buried him in ^(A)the cave of the field of Machpelah opposite Mamre, which Abraham had bought along with the field as a ^[a]burial site from Ephron the Hittite.

¹⁵ And ^(A)Jacob went down to Egypt, and he and our fathers died there. ¹⁶ And they were brought back from there to ^[a](B)Shechem and laid in the tomb which Abraham had purchased for a sum of money from the sons of ^[b]Hamor in ^[c]Shechem.
