¹¹ Abraham said, “Because I thought, surely there is no ^(A)fear of God in this place, and ^(B)they will kill me because of my wife. ¹² Besides, she actually is my sister, the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife; ¹³ and it came about, when ^(C)God caused me to wander from my father’s house, that I said to her, ‘This is ^[a]the kindness which you will show to me: ^[b]everywhere we go, ^(D)say of me, “He is my brother.”’”

²⁷ Now these are the records of the generations of Terah. Terah fathered Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and ^(A)Haran fathered ^(B)Lot.

^47 (A)Then I asked her, and said, ‘Whose daughter are you?’ And she said, ‘The daughter of Bethuel, Nahor’s son, whom Milcah bore to him’; and I put the ^(B)ring on her nose, and the bracelets on her ^[a]wrists. ⁴⁸ And I ^(C)bowed low and worshiped the Lord, and blessed the Lord, the God of my master Abraham, ^(D)who had guided me in the right way to take the daughter of my master’s brother for his son. ⁴⁹ So now if you are going to ^[b](E)deal kindly and truthfully with my master, tell me; and if not, tell me now, so that I may turn to the right or the left.”

⁵⁰ Then Laban and Bethuel replied, “^(F)The matter has come from the Lord; ^(G)so we cannot speak to you bad or good. ⁵¹ Here is Rebekah before you, take her and go, and let her be the wife of your master’s son, as the Lord has spoken.”

⁶⁷ Then Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah’s tent, and ^(A)he took Rebekah, and she became his wife, and ^(B)he loved her; so Isaac was comforted after ^(C)his mother’s death.
