²⁶ Then God said, ^(A)“Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; ^(B)let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over ^[a]all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” ²⁷ So God created man ^(C)in His own image; in the image of God He created him; ^(D)male and female He created them.

¹⁷ but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil ^(A)you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it ^(B)you^[a] shall surely ^(C)die.”

⁵ Then ^[a]the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every ^(A)intent^[b] of the thoughts of his heart was only evil ^[c]continually. ⁶ And ^(B)the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and ^(C)He was grieved in His ^(D)heart.

¹¹ The earth also was corrupt ^(A)before God, and the earth was ^(B)filled with violence. ¹² So God ^(C)looked upon the earth, and indeed it was corrupt; for ^(D)all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth.

²⁰ And He said, ^(A)“What comes out of a man, that defiles a man. ^21 (B)For from within, out of the heart of men, ^(C)proceed evil thoughts, ^(D)adulteries, ^(E)fornications, murders, ²² thefts, ^(F)covetousness, wickedness, ^(G)deceit, ^(H)lewdness, an evil eye, ^(I)blasphemy, ^(J)pride, foolishness. ²³ All these evil things come from within and defile a man.”

^24 (A)Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; ^(B)for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.”
