13 You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free.(A) But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh[a];(B) rather, serve one another(C) humbly in love.
Footnotes
- Galatians 5:13 In contexts like this, the Greek word for flesh (sarx) refers to the sinful state of human beings, often presented as a power in opposition to the Spirit; also in verses 16, 17, 19 and 24; and in 6:8.
2 Corinthians 5:14-17
English Standard Version
14 For the love of Christ (A)controls us, because we have concluded this: that (B)one has died for all, therefore all have died; 15 and he died for all, (C)that those who live might no longer live for themselves but (D)for him who for their sake died and was raised.
16 From now on, therefore, (E)we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is (F)in Christ, he is (G)a new creation.[a] (H)The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

2 Corinthians 5:14-17
New International Version
14 For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died.(A) 15 And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves(B) but for him who died for them(C) and was raised again.
16 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly(D) point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ,(E) the new creation(F) has come:[a] The old has gone, the new is here!(G)
