15 Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints,

16 cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers.

17 I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,

18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened, that ye may know what is the hope of His calling, and what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,

19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power,

20 which He wrought in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and set Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places,

21 far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come.

22 And God hath put all things under His feet, and hath given Him to be the head over all things to the church,

In the former treatise, O Theophilus, I have given an account of all that Jesus began both to do and teach

until the day in which He was taken up, after He had given commandments through the Holy Ghost unto the apostles, whom He had chosen.

To these also He showed Himself alive after His passion by many infallible proofs, being seen by them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.

And being assembled together with them, He commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, “which,” saith He, “ye have heard from Me;

for John truly baptized with water, but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.”

When they therefore had come together, they asked of Him, saying, “Lord, wilt Thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?”

And He said unto them, “It is not for you to know the times or the seasons which the Father hath put in His own power.

But ye shall receive power after the Holy Ghost is come upon you; and ye shall be witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

And when He had spoken these things, while they beheld, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.

10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel,

11 who also said, “Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who is taken up from you into Heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen Him go into Heaven.”
