Colossians 2:20-3:10

²⁰ If with Christ ^(A)you died to the ^(B)elemental spirits of the world, ^(C)why, as if you were still alive in the world, do you submit to regulations— ^21 (D)“Do not handle, Do not taste, Do not touch” ²² (^(E)referring to things that all perish as they are used)—according to ^(F)human precepts and teachings? ²³ These have indeed an appearance of wisdom in ^(G)promoting self-made religion and asceticism and severity to the body, but they are ^(H)of no value in stopping the indulgence of the flesh.

Put On the New Self

3 ^(I)If then you have been raised with Christ, seek ^(J)the things that are above, where Christ is, ^(K)seated at the right hand of God. ^2 (L)Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. ³ For ^(M)you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. ⁴ When Christ ^(N)who is your^[a] life ^(O)appears, then you also will appear with him ^(P)in glory.

^5 (Q)Put to death therefore ^(R)what is earthly in you:^{[b] (S)}sexual immorality, impurity, ^(T)passion, evil desire, and covetousness, ^(U)which is idolatry. ^6 (V)On account of these the wrath of God is coming.^{[c] 7 (W)}In these you too once walked, when you were living in them. ⁸ But now ^(X)you must put them all away: ^(Y)anger, wrath, malice, ^(Z)slander, and obscene talk from your mouth. ^9 (AA)Do not lie to one another, seeing that ^(AB)you have put off ^(AC)the old self^[d] with its practices ¹⁰ and ^(AD)have put on ^(AE)the new self, ^(AF)which is being renewed in knowledge ^(AG)after the image of ^(AH)its creator.
