²⁹ I ^(A)know that after my departure ^(B)fierce wolves will come in among you, ^(C)not sparing the flock; ³⁰ and ^(D)from among your own selves will arise men speaking twisted things, to draw away the disciples after them. ³¹ Therefore ^(E)be alert, remembering that ^(F)for three years I did not cease night or day ^(G)to admonish every one ^(H)with tears. ³² And now ^(I)I commend you to God and to ^(J)the word of his grace, which is able to ^(K)build you up and to give you ^(L)the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.

Unity in the Body of Christ

4 I therefore, ^(A)a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to ^(B)walk in a manner worthy of ^(C)the calling to which you have been called, ² with all ^(D)humility and ^(E)gentleness, with ^(F)patience, ^(G)bearing with one another in love, ³ eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in ^(H)the bond of peace.

⁴ Let there be ^(A)no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, ^(B)which are out of place, but instead ^(C)let there be thanksgiving. ⁵ For you may be sure of this, that ^(D)everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (^(E)that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. ^6 (F)Let no one ^(G)deceive you with empty words, for because of these things ^(H)the wrath of God comes upon ^(I)the sons of disobedience. ⁷ Therefore ^(J)do not become partners with them; ⁸ for ^(K)at one time you were ^(L)darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. ^(M)Walk as children of light ⁹ (for ^(N)the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), ¹⁰ and ^(O)try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord. ^11 (P)Take no part in the ^(Q)unfruitful ^(R)works of darkness, but instead ^(S)expose them. ¹² For ^(T)it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret. ¹³ But when ^(U)anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, ¹⁴ for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says,

^15 (Y)Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, ^16 (Z)making the best use of the time, because ^(AA)the days are evil. ¹⁷ Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what ^(AB)the will of the Lord is. ¹⁸ And ^(AC)do not get drunk with wine, for that is ^(AD)debauchery, but ^(AE)be filled with the Spirit, ¹⁹ addressing one another in ^(AF)psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, ^20 (AG)giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father ^(AH)in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, ^21 (AI)submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.

Wives and Husbands

^22 (AJ)Wives, ^(AK)submit to your own husbands, ^(AL)as to the Lord. ²³ For ^(AM)the husband is the head of the wife even as ^(AN)Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is ^(AO)himself its Savior. ²⁴ Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit ^(AP)in everything to their husbands.

^25 (AQ)Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and ^(AR)gave himself up for her,

^2 (A)“‘I know your works, your toil and your patient endurance, and how you cannot bear with those who are evil, but ^(B)have tested those ^(C)who call themselves apostles and are not, and found them to be false. ³ I know you are enduring patiently and bearing up ^(D)for my name's sake, and you ^(E)have not grown weary. ⁴ But I have this against you, that you have abandoned ^(F)the love you had at first. ⁵ Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do ^(G)the works you did at first. If not, ^(H)I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.
