³⁷ Now when ^(A)they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, ^(B)what shall we do?” ³⁸ And Peter said to them, ^(C)“Repent and ^(D)be baptized every one of you ^(E)in the name of Jesus Christ ^(F)for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive ^(G)the gift of the Holy Spirit. ³⁹ For ^(H)the promise is for you and ^(I)for your children and for all ^(J)who are far off, everyone ^(K)whom the Lord our God calls to himself.” ⁴⁰ And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, ^(L)“Save yourselves from this ^(M)crooked generation.” ⁴¹ So those who received his word were baptized, and ^(N)there were added that day about three thousand souls.

The Fellowship of the Believers

⁴² And ^(O)they devoted themselves to the apostles' ^(P)teaching and the ^(Q)fellowship, to ^(R)the breaking of bread and the prayers. ⁴³ And awe^[a] came upon every soul, and ^(S)many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. ⁴⁴ And all who believed were together and ^(T)had all things in common. ⁴⁵ And ^(U)they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. ⁴⁶ And day by day, ^(V)attending the temple ^(W)together and ^(X)breaking bread in their homes, they received their food ^(Y)with glad and generous hearts, ⁴⁷ praising God and ^(Z)having favor with all the people. And the Lord ^(AA)added to their number ^(AB)day by day those who ^(AC)were being saved.

The Lame Beggar Healed

3 Now Peter and John were ^(AD)going up to the temple at ^(AE)the hour of prayer, ^(AF)the ninth hour.^{[b] 2} And a man ^(AG)lame from birth was being carried, ^(AH)whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple that is called the Beautiful Gate ^(AI)to ask alms of those entering the temple. ³ Seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked to receive alms. ⁴ And Peter directed his gaze at him, as did John, and said, “Look at us.” ⁵ And he fixed his attention on them, expecting to receive something from them. ⁶ But Peter said, ^(AJ)“I have no silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you. ^(AK)In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!” ⁷ And he took him by the right hand and raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankles were made strong. ⁸ And ^(AL)leaping up, he stood and began to walk, and entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God. ⁹ And ^(AM)all the people saw him walking and praising God, ¹⁰ and recognized him as the one who sat at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, asking for alms. And they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.
