  1. From Adam to Noah

    This is the written account of Adam’s family line. When God created mankind, he made them in the likeness of God.
  2. Then the Lord said to Moses, “Write this on a scroll as something to be remembered and make sure that Joshua hears it, because I will completely blot out the name of Amalek from under heaven.”

    The Lord said to Moses, “Chisel out two stone tablets like the first ones, and I will write on them the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke.
  6. Then the Lord said to Moses, “Write down these words, for in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel.”
  7. “‘The priest is to write these curses on a scroll and then wash them off into the bitter water.
  8. “Speak to the Israelites and get twelve staffs from them, one from the leader of each of their ancestral tribes. Write the name of each man on his staff.
  9. On the staff of Levi write Aaron’s name, for there must be one staff for the head of each ancestral tribe.
  10. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.
  11. I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke. Then you are to put them in the ark.”
  12. The Lord wrote on these tablets what he had written before, the Ten Commandments he had proclaimed to you on the mountain, out of the fire, on the day of the assembly. And the Lord gave them to me.
  13. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates,
  14. When he takes the throne of his kingdom, he is to write for himself on a scroll a copy of this law, taken from that of the Levitical priests.
  15. If a man marries a woman who becomes displeasing to him because he finds something indecent about her, and he writes her a certificate of divorce, gives it to her and sends her from his house,
  16. and her second husband dislikes her and writes her a certificate of divorce, gives it to her and sends her from his house, or if he dies,
  17. Write on them all the words of this law when you have crossed over to enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, a land flowing with milk and honey, just as the Lord, the God of your ancestors, promised you.
  18. And you shall write very clearly all the words of this law on these stones you have set up.”
  19. If you do not carefully follow all the words of this law, which are written in this book, and do not revere this glorious and awesome name—the Lord your God—
  20. The Lord will never be willing to forgive them; his wrath and zeal will burn against them. All the curses written in this book will fall on them, and the Lord will blot out their names from under heaven.
  21. The Lord will single them out from all the tribes of Israel for disaster, according to all the curses of the covenant written in this Book of the Law.
  22. Therefore the Lord’s anger burned against this land, so that he brought on it all the curses written in this book.
  23. if you obey the Lord your God and keep his commands and decrees that are written in this Book of the Law and turn to the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
  24. “Now write down this song and teach it to the Israelites and have them sing it, so that it may be a witness for me against them.
  25. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
