  1. The territory of the Canaanite extended from Sidon going toward Gerar, as far as Gaza; and going toward Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, as far as Lasha.

  9. They also took Lot, Abram’s nephew, and his possessions and departed, for he was living in Sodom.
  10. God’s Promise to Abram

    Then after his return from the defeat of Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him, the king of Sodom went out to meet him at the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King’s Valley).
  11. Then the king of Sodom said to Abram, “Give the people to me and take the possessions for yourself.”
  12. But Abram said to the king of Sodom, “I have sworn to the Lord God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth,
  13. Then the men rose up from there, and looked down toward Sodom; and Abraham was walking with them to send them off.
  14. And the Lord said, “The outcry of Sodom and Gomorrah is indeed great, and their sin is exceedingly grave.
  15. Abraham Appeals for Sodom

    Then the men turned away from there and went toward Sodom, while Abraham was still standing before the Lord.
  16. So the Lord said, “If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare the entire place on their account.”
  17. The Doom of Sodom

    Now the two angels came to Sodom in the evening as Lot was sitting at the gate of Sodom. When Lot saw them, he stood up to meet them and bowed down with his face to the ground.
  18. Before they lay down, the men of the city—the men of Sodom—surrounded the house, both young and old, all the people from every quarter;
  19. Then the Lord rained brimstone and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah from the Lord out of heaven,
  20. and he looked down toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the surrounding area; and behold, he saw the smoke of the land ascended like the smoke of a furnace.
  21. ‘All its land is brimstone and salt, burned debris, unsown and unproductive, and no grass grows on it, like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which the Lord overthrew in His anger and in His wrath.’
  22. For their vine is from the vine of Sodom, And from the fields of Gomorrah; Their grapes are grapes of poison, Their clusters, bitter.
  23. If the Lord of armies Had not left us a few survivors, We would be like Sodom, We would be like Gomorrah.
  24. God Has Had Enough

    Hear the word of the Lord, You rulers of Sodom; Listen to the instruction of our God, You people of Gomorrah!
  25. The expression of their faces testifies against them, And they display their sin like Sodom; They do not even conceal it. Woe to them! For they have done evil to themselves.
