¶ And Jesus walking by the sea of Galilee saw two brethren, Simon, which was called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea (for they were fishers.)

Now the names of the twelve Apostles are these. The first is Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother,

Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.

Is not this the carpenter’s son? Is not his mother called Mary, and his brethren James and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?

Then Simon Peter answered, and said, Thou art that Christ, the son of the living God.

And Jesus answered, and said to him, Blessed art thou, Simon, the son of Jonah: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

He said, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? Of whom do the kings of the earth take tribute, or poll money? of their children, or of strangers?

¶ And when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,

And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, named Simon: him they compelled to bear his cross.

¶ And as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea (for they were fishers.)

¶ And as soon as they were come out of the Synagogue, they entered into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.

And Simon’s wife’s mother lay sick of a fever, and anon they told him of her.

And Simon, and they that were with him, followed carefully after him.

And the first was Simon, and he named Simon, Peter,

And Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the Canaanite,

Is not this that carpenter Mary’s son, the brother of James and Joses, and of Judas and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended in him.

And when he was in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at table, there came a woman having a box of ointment of Spikenard, very costly, and she brake the box, and poured it on his head.

Then he came, and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour?

And they compelled one that passed by, called Simon of Cyrene (which came out of the country, and was father of Alexander and Rufus) to bear his cross.

¶ And he rose up, and came out of the Synagogue, and entered into Simon’s house. And Simon’s wife’s mother was taken with a great fever, and they required him for her.

And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon’s, and required him that he would thrust off a little from the land: and he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship.

¶ Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets to make a draught.

Then Simon answered, and said unto him, Master, we have travailed sore all night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.

Now when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus knees, saying, Lord, go from me: for I am a sinful man.
