I in turn will do this to you: I will bring terror on you, consumption and fever that waste the eyes and cause life to pine away. You shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.

The Lord will afflict you with consumption, fever, inflammation, with fiery heat and drought, and with blight and mildew; they shall pursue you until you perish.

Jesus Heals Many at Peter’s House

When Jesus entered Peter’s house, he saw his mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever;

he touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she got up and began to serve him.

Now Simon’s mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they told him about her at once.

He came and took her by the hand and lifted her up. Then the fever left her, and she began to serve them.

Healings at Simon’s House

After leaving the synagogue he entered Simon’s house. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever, and they asked him about her.

Then he stood over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. Immediately she got up and began to serve them.

So he asked them the hour when he began to recover, and they said to him, “Yesterday at one in the afternoon the fever left him.”

It so happened that the father of Publius lay sick in bed with fever and dysentery. Paul visited him and cured him by praying and putting his hands on him.
