  1. Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.
  2. but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast.

  19. But if you will not send him, we will not go down, because the man said to us, ‘You will not see my face again unless your brother is with you.’”
  20. After he had washed his face, he came out and, controlling himself, said, “Serve the food.”
  21. But you told your servants, ‘Unless your youngest brother comes down with you, you will not see my face again.’
  22. But we said, ‘We cannot go down. Only if our youngest brother is with us will we go. We cannot see the man’s face unless our youngest brother is with us.’
  23. Israel said to Joseph, “I never expected to see your face again, and now God has allowed me to see your children too.”
  24. Then Joseph removed them from Israel’s knees and bowed down with his face to the ground.
  25. Then he said, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.” At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God.
