Facing The Questions
I remember my Mom telling me that I would be faced with hard decisions as I grew older. She told me not to allow questions from others to change my opinion of what was right for me. I began to realize, if I was to become all I wanted to be, I had to learn how to deal with questions from others. The questions we face from others in life can be used to stretch our resolve and toughen our character. They can make us better people. To be questioned by others allows us the opportunity to ponder, dismiss, answer, and/or overcome perceived problems or issues seen from those on the outside. As women, it seems we have always been questioned about what we can or can’t do. But, I continue to see women overcoming challenges and even stepping up in situations by doing more than is expected. We are here to stay, and it doesn’t matter what questions we have to deal with. We will face them and prevail. (2, p.64, 70)
