Shining Stars
Lacey filled a plastic bag with peppermint candies. Laying it on the kitchen floor, she began smashing the candies with a hammer. “I wanna do some,” said her brother Tate, dropping his tube of frosting. He’d been decorating star shaped Christmas cookies.
“You can finish them,” Lacey said, handing him the hammer.
At the counter, their mom was pouring something into a bowl. “What’s that?” Lacey asked. “Vanilla-flavored chips,” her mom replied. “Here, melt them in the microwave.” Lacey did, and her mom said, “Tate, we’re ready for the peppermints.” He poured in the crushed candies. Lacey mixed it all up, and then dropped spoonfuls onto a cookie pan. “Put the pan in the fridge,” her mom said. “Later we’ll melt chocolate to dip the patties in. Pastor Dan will love these.” Tate said, “Yeah — and the star cookies!”
Which people around you lead you to Jesus, the way the star of Bethlehem guided the wise men to him? They may be your teachers, coaches, or neighbors. Or they could be your parents, relatives, or friends. Thank God for putting these shining stars in your life, and be sure to show them your appreciation.
Bible Verse: The star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. – Matthew 2:9
Words to Treasure: Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever. – Daniel 12:3
