A few weeks back on the Facebook Fan page for BibleGateway.com we asked the question, “If you were given the chance to have dinner with someone from the Old Testament who would you choose and why?” As of this writing, 1,278 people have commented with answers ranging from insightful to downright hilarious.
We tabulated the responses from the first 1,000 or so comments and devised a sort of “Top 20 Old Testament Characters” dinner guest list. We’ve posted the first 10 below. You’ll have to head over to the fan page to see the rest.
Here are the the top 10 responses:
1. God (279 responses)

“Zechariah. I would love to know what he saw. what he thought when he questioned Gabriel. How he felt all those months in silence and how he felt once Our God’s prophecy came to pass.” -Nikki Tisa
“Noah, no Joshua, no Pharaoh, I don’t know there’s a lot of great people in the bible!” – Phoebe Stone
“King Solomon. God gave Solomon wisdom and very great insight, and a breadth of understanding as measureless as the sand on the seashore. Solomon’s wisdom was greater than the wisdom of all the men of the East, and greater than all the wisdom of Egypt. He was wiser than any other man. I will like to be wise as King Solomon.” – Angela Ijeh
“The serpent, so I could step on his head!” -Tom Wight
