10 My son, if sinners (A)entice you,
(B)Do not be willing.
11 If they say, “Come with us,
Let us (C)lie in wait for blood,
Let us (D)ambush the innocent without cause;
12 Let us (E)swallow them alive like Sheol,
And whole, as those who (F)go down to the pit;
13 We will find all kinds of precious wealth,
We will fill our houses with spoil;
14 Cast in your lot [a]with us,
We shall all have one purse,”
15 My son, (G)do not walk in the way with them.
(H)Withhold your feet from their pathway,
16 For (I)their feet run to evil
And they hasten to shed blood.
17 For it is [b]no use that a net is spread
In the sight of any [c]bird;
18 But they (J)lie in wait for their own blood;
They ambush their own [d]lives.
19 So are the paths of everyone who is (K)greedy for gain;
It takes away the [e]life of its possessors.

10 My child, if sinners entice you, do not consent.
11 If they say,
    “Come with us!
    We shall lie in wait for blood;
    we shall ambush the innocent without cause.[a]
12 Like Sheol,[b] we will swallow them alive
    and whole, like those who descend to the pit.[c]
13 We shall find all precious wealth,
    we shall fill our houses with booty,
14 you shall throw your lot in our midst,
    there will be one purse for all of us.”
15 My child, do not walk in their way.[d]
    Keep your foot from their paths,
16 for their feet run to evil,
    and they hurry to shed blood,
17 for “in vain[e] is the net scattered,
    in the sight of any winged bird.”[f]
18 They lie in wait for their own blood.
    They ambush their own lives.
19 Thus are the ways of all who are greedy for gain—
    it will take the life of its possessors.
