Proverbs 23:4-8
Legacy Standard Bible
4 (A)Do not weary yourself to gain wealth,
(B)Because of your understanding, cease!
5 Do you make your eyes fly up to see it? But it is not there!
Because (C)it certainly makes itself wings
Like an eagle that flies toward the heavens.
6 (D)Do not eat the bread of [a]a (E)selfish man,
And do not desire his delicacies;
7 For as he [b]calculates in his soul, so he is.
“Eat and drink!” he says to you,
But (F)his heart is not with you.
8 You will (G)vomit up [c]the morsel you have eaten,
And you will corrupt your pleasant words.

Proverbs 23:4-8
Evangelical Heritage Version
4 Do not wear yourself out getting rich.
Have the good judgment to know when to stop.
5 Will your eyes get a glimpse of wealth before it is gone?
No, it will sprout wings for itself.
Like an eagle it will fly away into the sky.
6 Do not eat the food of a miser.
Do not crave his delicious food,
7 because he is calculating how much things cost him.
So when he says to you, “Eat and drink,”
he does not mean it.
8 You will vomit up the little bit you ate
and spoil your pleasant conversation.
