16 For I am not ashamed of the [a]gospel: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 17 For therein is revealed a righteousness of God from faith unto faith: as it is written, [b]But the righteous shall live [c]by faith.

19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it speaketh to them that are under the law; that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may be brought under the judgment of God: 20 because [a]by [b]the works of the law shall no flesh be [c]justified in his sight; for [d]through the law cometh the knowledge of sin.
21 But now apart from the law a righteousness of God hath been manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; 22 even the righteousness of God through faith [e]in Jesus Christ unto all [f]them that believe; for there is no distinction; 23 for all [g]have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God; 24 being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
