Then his wife conceived and bore a son, and he called his name Beriah [in evil], because calamity had befallen his house.
¶ And when he went in to his wife, she conceived, and bare a son, and he called his name Beriah, because it went evil with his house.
He slept with his wife, and she conceived and gave birth to a son. So he named him Beriah, because there had been misfortune in his home.
Ephraim had sex with his wife, and she conceived and gave birth to a son. He named him Beriah, because misfortune had come to his house.
Then he had sexual relations with his wife, and she conceived and bore a son whom he called B’ri‘ah [in calamity], because his household had suffered a calamity.
Some time later his wife gave birth to another son, and Ephraim named him Beriah, because he was born during a time of misery.
And he went in to his wife; and she conceived, and bore a son; and he called his name Beriah, for [he was born] when calamity was in his house.
And he went in to his wife: and she conceived and bore a son, and he called his name Beria, because he was born when it went evil with his house:
Then Ephraim had sexual relations with his wife. She became pregnant and had a son. Ephraim named this new son Beriah because something bad had happened to his family.
Then Ephraim had sex with his wife and they had another son. Ephraim called him Beriah. That name means ‘trouble’. Ephraim chose that name because of his family's troubles.
He went to his wife, and she conceived and gave birth to a son, and he named him Beriah, because there was trouble with his house.
And Ephraim went in to his wife, and she conceived and bore a son. And he called his name Beriah, because disaster had befallen his house.

And when he went in to his wife, she conceived, and bare him a son, and he called his name Beriah, because affliction was in his house.
Then he slept with his wife, and she became pregnant. She gave birth to a son, and Ephraim named him Beriah [Tragedy], because tragedy had come to his home.
Then he had intercourse with his wife again, and she became pregnant and had a son. They named him Beriah, because of the trouble that had come to their family.

Later, Ephraim had marital relations with his wife, and she conceived and gave birth to a son, whom he named Beriah, because his household had been visited with disaster.
And when he went in to his wife, she conceived and gave birth to a son, and he called his name Beriah, because he had been in affliction in his house.
And when he went in to his wife, she conceived, and bare a son, and he called his name Beriah, because it went evil with his house.

Afterwards his wife conceived and bore a son whom he called Beriah (meaning “a tragedy”) because of what had happened.
The sons of Ephraim were Shuthelah, Bered his son, Tahath his son, Eleadah his son, Tahath his son, Zabad his son, Shuthelah his son, and Ezer and Elead, cattle-rustlers, killed on one of their raids by the natives of Gath. Their father Ephraim grieved a long time and his family gathered to give him comfort. Then he slept with his wife again. She conceived and produced a son. He named him Beriah (Unlucky), because of the bad luck that had come to his family. His daughter was Sheerah. She built Lower and Upper Beth Horon and Uzzen Sheerah.

His wife became pregnant and birthed Beriah (whose name means “misfortune” and commemorates the tragedy in Ephraim’s family).
