Psalm 20-22

Prayer for Victory over Enemies.

For the music director. A Psalm of David.

20 May the Lord answer you (A)on a day of trouble!
May the (B)name of the (C)God of Jacob [a]protect you!
May He send you help (D)from the sanctuary,
And (E)support you from Zion!
May He (F)remember all your meal offerings
And [b](G)accept your burnt offering! Selah

May He grant you your (H)heart’s desire
And (I)fulfill your whole plan!
[c]We will (J)sing for joy over your [d]victory,
And in the name of our God we will (K)set up our banners.
May the Lord (L)fulfill all your desires.

Now (M)I know that the Lord saves His anointed;
He will (N)answer him from His holy heaven
With the [e](O)saving strength of His right hand.
Some praise their chariots and some their (P)horses,
But (Q)we will praise the name of the Lord, our God.
They have (R)bowed down and fallen,
But we have (S)risen and stood upright.
[f](T)Save, Lord;
May the (U)King answer us on the day we call.

Praise for Salvation.

For the music director. A Psalm of David.

21 Lord, in Your strength the king will (V)be glad,
And in Your [g]salvation how greatly he will rejoice!
You have (W)given him his heart’s desire,
And You have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah
For You (X)meet him with the blessings of good things;
You set a (Y)crown of pure gold on his head.
He asked for life from You,
You (Z)gave it to him,
(AA)Length of days forever and ever.
His (AB)glory is great through Your [h]salvation,
(AC)Splendor and majesty You place upon him.
For You make him [i]most (AD)blessed forever;
You make him joyful (AE)with the joy of Your presence.

For the king (AF)trusts in the Lord,
And through the faithfulness of the Most High (AG)he will not be shaken.
Your hand will (AH)find all your enemies;
Your right hand will find those who hate you.
You will make them (AI)as a fiery oven in the time [j]of your anger;
The Lord will (AJ)swallow them up in His wrath,
And (AK)fire will devour them.
10 You will eliminate their [k]descendants from the earth,
And their [l](AL)children from among the sons of mankind.
11 Though they [m](AM)intended evil against You
And (AN)devised a plot,
They will not succeed.
12 For You will (AO)make them turn their back;
You will take aim at their faces (AP)with Your bowstrings.
13 Be exalted, Lord, in Your strength;
We will (AQ)sing and praise Your power.

A Cry of Anguish and a Song of Praise.

For the music director; upon [n]Aijeleth Hashshahar. A Psalm of David.

22 (AR)My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?
(AS)Far from my [o]help are the words of my [p](AT)groaning.
My God, I (AU)cry out by day, but You do not answer;
And by night, but [q]I have no rest.
Yet (AV)You are holy,
You who [r]are enthroned upon (AW)the praises of Israel.
In You our fathers (AX)trusted;
They trusted and You (AY)rescued them.
To You they cried out and they fled to safety;
(AZ)In You they trusted and were not [s]disappointed.

But I am a (BA)worm and not a person,
A (BB)disgrace of mankind and (BC)despised by the people.
All who see me (BD)deride me;
They [t]sneer, they (BE)shake their heads, saying,
[u]Turn [v]him over to the Lord; (BF)let Him save him;
Let Him rescue him, because He delights in him.”

Yet You are He who (BG)brought me forth from the womb;
You made me trust when upon my mother’s breasts.
10 I was cast upon You (BH)from [w]birth;
You have been my God from my mother’s womb.

11 (BI)Do not be far from me, for [x]trouble is near;
For there is (BJ)no one to help.
12 Many (BK)bulls have surrounded me;
Strong bulls of (BL)Bashan have encircled me.
13 They (BM)open their mouths wide at me,
As a ravening and roaring (BN)lion.
14 I am (BO)poured out like water,
And all my (BP)bones are out of joint;
My (BQ)heart is like wax;
It is melted within [y]me.
15 My (BR)strength is dried up like a piece of pottery,
And (BS)my tongue clings to my jaws;
And You (BT)lay me [z]in the dust of death.
16 For (BU)dogs have surrounded me;
[aa]A band of evildoers has encompassed me;
[ab]They (BV)pierced my hands and my feet.
17 I can count all my bones.
(BW)They look, they stare at me;
18 They (BX)divide my garments among them,
And they cast lots for my clothing.

19 But You, Lord, (BY)do not be far away;
You who are my help, (BZ)hurry to my assistance.
20 Save my [ac]soul from (CA)the sword,
My (CB)only life from the [ad]power of the dog.
21 Save me from the (CC)lion’s mouth;
From the horns of the (CD)wild oxen You (CE)answer me.

22 I will (CF)proclaim Your name to my brothers;
In the midst of the assembly I will praise You.
23 (CG)You who fear the Lord, praise Him;
All you [ae]descendants of Jacob, (CH)glorify Him,
And (CI)stand in awe of Him, all you [af]descendants of Israel.
24 For He has (CJ)not despised nor scorned the suffering of the afflicted;
Nor has He (CK)hidden His face from him;
But (CL)when he cried to Him for help, He heard.

25 From You comes (CM)my praise in the great assembly;
I shall (CN)pay my vows before those who fear Him.
26 The [ag]afflicted will eat and (CO)be satisfied;
Those who seek Him will (CP)praise the Lord.
May your (CQ)heart live forever!
27 All the (CR)ends of the earth will remember and turn to the Lord,
And all the (CS)families of the nations will worship before [ah]You.
28 For the (CT)kingdom is the Lords
And He (CU)rules over the nations.
29 All the [ai](CV)prosperous of the earth will eat and worship,
All those who (CW)go down to the dust will kneel before Him,
Even he who [aj](CX)cannot keep his soul alive.
30 A [ak](CY)posterity will serve Him;
It will be told of the Lord to (CZ)the coming generation.
31 They will come and (DA)will declare His righteousness
To a people (DB)who will be born, that He has performed it.

Acts 21:1-17

Paul Sails from Miletus

21 Now when (A)we had parted from them and had set sail, we ran (B)a straight course to Cos, and on the next day to Rhodes, and from there to Patara; and having found a ship crossing over to (C)Phoenicia, we went aboard and set sail. When we came in sight of (D)Cyprus, leaving it on the left, we kept sailing to (E)Syria and landed at (F)Tyre; for the ship was to unload its cargo there. After looking up (G)the disciples, we stayed there for seven days; and they kept telling Paul, [a](H)through the Spirit, not to set foot in Jerusalem. When [b]our days there were ended, we left and started on our journey, while they all, with wives and children, (I)escorted us until we were out of the city. After (J)kneeling down on the beach and praying, we said farewell to one another. Then we boarded the ship, and they returned (K)home.

When we had finished the voyage from (L)Tyre, we arrived at Ptolemais, and after greeting (M)the brothers and sisters, we stayed with them for a day. On the next day we left and came to (N)Caesarea, and we entered the house of (O)Philip the (P)evangelist, who was (Q)one of the seven, and stayed with him. Now this man had four virgin daughters who were (R)prophetesses. 10 As we were staying there for some days, a prophet named (S)Agabus came down from Judea. 11 And he came to us and (T)took Paul’s belt and bound his own feet and hands, and said, “This (U)is what the Holy Spirit says: ‘In this way the Jews in Jerusalem will (V)bind the man who owns this belt and (W)hand him over to the Gentiles.’” 12 When we had heard this, we as well as the local residents began begging him (X)not to go up to Jerusalem. 13 Then Paul replied, “What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For (Y)I am ready not only to be bound, but even to die in Jerusalem for (Z)the name of the Lord Jesus.” 14 And since he would not be persuaded, we became quiet, remarking, “(AA)The will of the Lord be done!”

Paul in Jerusalem

15 After these days we got ready and (AB)started on our way up to Jerusalem. 16 Some of (AC)the disciples from (AD)Caesarea also came with us, taking us to Mnason of (AE)Cyprus, a (AF)disciple of long standing with whom we were to stay.

17 After we arrived in Jerusalem, (AG)the brothers and sisters received us gladly.
