6 O Lord, (B)rebuke me not in your anger,
nor (C)discipline me in your wrath.
2 Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am languishing;
(D)heal me, O Lord, (E)for my bones are troubled.
3 My (F)soul also is greatly troubled.
But you, O Lord—(G)how long?
4 Turn, O Lord, deliver my life;
save me for the sake of your steadfast love.
5 For in (H)death there is no remembrance of you;
in Sheol who will give you praise?
How Majestic Is Your Name

8 O Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your (B)name in all the earth!
You have set your (C)glory above the heavens.
2 (D)Out of the mouth of babies and infants,
you have established (E)strength because of your foes,
to still (F)the enemy and the avenger.
3 When I (G)look at your heavens, the work of your (H)fingers,
the moon and the stars, (I)which you have set in place,
4 (J)what is man that you are (K)mindful of him,
and (L)the son of man that you (M)care for him?
5 Yet you have made him a little lower than (N)the heavenly beings[b]
and crowned him with (O)glory and honor.
6 You have given him (P)dominion over the works of your hands;
(Q)you have put all things under his feet,
7 all sheep and oxen,
and also the beasts of the field,
8 the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea,
whatever passes along the paths of the seas.
9 O Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
I Will Recount Your Wonderful Deeds

9 I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart;
I will recount all of your (R)wonderful deeds.
2 I will be glad and (S)exult in you;
I will (T)sing praise to your name, (U)O Most High.
3 When my enemies turn back,
they stumble and perish before[e] your presence.
4 For you have (V)maintained my just cause;
you have (W)sat on the throne, giving righteous judgment.
5 You have (X)rebuked the nations; you have made the wicked perish;
you have (Y)blotted out their name forever and ever.
6 The enemy came to an end in everlasting ruins;
their cities you rooted out;
the very memory of them has perished.
7 But the Lord sits enthroned forever;
he has established his throne for justice,
8 and he (Z)judges the world with righteousness;
he (AA)judges the peoples with uprightness.
9 The Lord is (AB)a stronghold for (AC)the oppressed,
a stronghold in (AD)times of trouble.
10 And those who (AE)know your name put their trust in you,
for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.
11 Sing praises to the Lord, who (AF)sits enthroned in Zion!
Tell among the peoples his (AG)deeds!
12 For he who (AH)avenges blood is mindful of them;
he (AI)does not forget the cry of the afflicted.
13 (AJ)Be gracious to me, O Lord!
See my affliction from those who hate me,
O you who lift me up from (AK)the gates of death,
14 that I may recount all your praises,
that in the gates of (AL)the daughter of Zion
I may (AM)rejoice in your salvation.
15 The nations have sunk in (AN)the pit that they made;
in (AO)the net that they hid, their own foot has been caught.
16 The Lord has made himself (AP)known; he has executed judgment;
the wicked are snared in the work of their own hands. Higgaion.[f] Selah
18 For the needy shall not always be forgotten,
and (AS)the hope of the poor shall not perish forever.
19 (AT)Arise, O Lord! Let not (AU)man prevail;
let the nations be judged before you!
20 Put them in fear, O Lord!
Let the nations know that they are but (AV)men! Selah
Why Do You Hide Yourself?
2 In arrogance the wicked hotly pursue the poor;
let them (AZ)be caught in the schemes that they have devised.
3 For the wicked (BA)boasts of the desires of his soul,
and the one greedy for gain (BB)curses[g] and (BC)renounces the Lord.
4 In the pride of his face[h] the wicked does not (BD)seek him;[i]
all his thoughts are, (BE)“There is no God.”
5 His ways prosper at all times;
your judgments are on high, (BF)out of his sight;
as for all his foes, he (BG)puffs at them.
6 He (BH)says in his heart, “I shall not be moved;
throughout all generations I (BI)shall not meet adversity.”
7 (BJ)His mouth is filled with cursing and (BK)deceit and (BL)oppression;
(BM)under his tongue are (BN)mischief and (BO)iniquity.
8 He sits in ambush in the villages;
in (BP)hiding places he murders the innocent.
His eyes stealthily watch for the helpless;
9 he lurks in ambush like (BQ)a lion in his (BR)thicket;
he (BS)lurks that he may seize the poor;
he seizes the poor when he draws him into his (BT)net.
10 The helpless are crushed, sink down,
and fall by his might.
11 He says in his heart, “God has forgotten,
he has (BU)hidden his face, he (BV)will never see it.”
12 (BW)Arise, O Lord; O God, (BX)lift up your hand;
(BY)forget not the afflicted.
13 Why does the wicked (BZ)renounce God
and say in his heart, “You will not (CA)call to account”?
14 But you do see, for you (CB)note mischief and vexation,
that you may take it into your hands;
to you the helpless (CC)commits himself;
you have been (CD)the helper of the fatherless.
15 (CE)Break the arm of the wicked and evildoer;
(CF)call his wickedness to account till you find none.
16 (CG)The Lord is king forever and ever;
the (CH)nations perish from his land.
17 O Lord, you hear the desire of the afflicted;
you will (CI)strengthen their heart; you will incline your ear
18 to (CJ)do justice to the fatherless and (CK)the oppressed,
so that (CL)man who is of the earth may strike terror no more.
The Fool Says, There Is No God
To the choirmaster. Of David.
14 (A)The (B)fool says in his heart, (C)“There is no God.”
They are (D)corrupt, they do abominable deeds;
(E)there is none who does good.
2 The Lord (F)looks down from heaven on the children of man,
to see if there are any who understand,[a]
who (G)seek after God.
3 They have all turned aside; together they have become (H)corrupt;
there is none who does good,
not even one.
4 Have they no (I)knowledge, all the evildoers
who (J)eat up my people as they eat bread
and (K)do not call upon the Lord?
5 There they are in great terror,
for God is with (L)the generation of the righteous.
6 You would shame the plans of the poor,
but[b] the Lord is his (M)refuge.
7 Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion!
When the Lord (N)restores the fortunes of his people,
let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad.
You Will Not Abandon My Soul

16 Preserve me, O God, for in you I (B)take refuge.
2 I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;
(C)I have no good apart from you.”
4 The sorrows of those who run after[c] another god shall multiply;
their drink offerings of blood I will not pour out
or (E)take their names on my lips.
5 The Lord is (F)my chosen portion and my (G)cup;
you hold my (H)lot.
6 (I)The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance.
7 I bless the Lord who (J)gives me counsel;
in (K)the night also my (L)heart instructs me.[d]
8 (M)I have (N)set the Lord always before me;
because he is at my (O)right hand, I shall not be (P)shaken.
The Law of the Lord Is Perfect

19 (A)The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above[a] proclaims his handiwork.
2 Day to day pours out speech,
and night to night reveals knowledge.
3 There is no speech, nor are there words,
whose voice is not heard.
4 (B)Their (C)voice[b] goes out through all the earth,
and their words to the end of the world.
In them he has set a tent for (D)the sun,
5 (E)which comes out like (F)a bridegroom leaving his chamber,
and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy.
6 Its rising is from the end of the heavens,
and its circuit to the end of them,
and there is nothing hidden from its heat.
7 (G)The law of the Lord is perfect,[c]
(H)reviving the soul;
(I)the testimony of the Lord is (J)sure,
(K)making wise (L)the simple;
8 (M)the precepts of the Lord are right,
rejoicing the heart;
the commandment of the Lord is (N)pure,
(O)enlightening the eyes;
9 the fear of the Lord is clean,
enduring forever;
the rules[d] of the Lord are (P)true,
and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than (Q)gold,
even much (R)fine gold;
(S)sweeter also than honey
and drippings of (T)the honeycomb.
11 Moreover, by them is your servant warned;
(U)in keeping them there is great reward.
The King Rejoices in the Lord's Strength
To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.
21 O Lord, in your (A)strength the king rejoices,
and in your (B)salvation how greatly he exults!
2 You have (C)given him his heart's desire
and have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah
3 For you (D)meet him with rich blessings;
you set (E)a crown of (F)fine gold upon his head.
4 He asked life of you; you (G)gave it to him,
(H)length of days forever and ever.
5 His (I)glory is great through your salvation;
(J)splendor and majesty you bestow on him.
6 For you make him most blessed forever;[a]
you make him glad with the (K)joy of your presence.
7 For the king trusts in the Lord,
and through the steadfast love of the Most High he shall not be (L)moved.
8 Your hand will (M)find out all your enemies;
your right hand will find out those who hate you.
9 You will make them as (N)a blazing oven
when you appear.
The Lord will swallow them up in his (O)wrath,
and (P)fire will consume them.
10 You (Q)will destroy their (R)descendants from the earth,
and their offspring from among the children of man.
11 Though they plan evil against you,
though they (S)devise mischief, they will not succeed.
12 For you will put them (T)to flight;
you will (U)aim at their faces with your bows.
13 Be exalted, O Lord, in your strength!
We will sing and praise your power.
