  1. Jacob went close to his father Isaac, who touched him and said, “The voice is the voice of Jacob, but the hands are the hands of Esau.”
  2. As the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke and the voice of God answered him.

  13. For what mortal has ever heard the voice of the living God speaking out of fire, as we have, and survived?
  14. For this is what you asked of the Lord your God at Horeb on the day of the assembly when you said, “Let us not hear the voice of the Lord our God nor see this great fire anymore, or we will die.”
  15. Then we cried out to the Lord, the God of our ancestors, and the Lord heard our voice and saw our misery, toil and oppression.
