  1. There are those who turn justice into bitterness and cast righteousness to the ground.
  2. There are those who hate the one who upholds justice in court and detest the one who tells the truth.

  15. “So I will come to put you on trial. I will be quick to testify against sorcerers, adulterers and perjurers, against those who defraud laborers of their wages, who oppress the widows and the fatherless, and deprive the foreigners among you of justice, but do not fear me,” says the Lord Almighty.
  16. “Here is my servant whom I have chosen, the one I love, in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations.
  17. A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out, till he has brought justice through to victory.
  18. “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.
  19. “Woe to you Pharisees, because you give God a tenth of your mint, rue and all other kinds of garden herbs, but you neglect justice and the love of God. You should have practiced the latter without leaving the former undone.
  20. And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’
  21. yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’”
  22. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?
  23. I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”
  24. In his humiliation he was deprived of justice. Who can speak of his descendants? For his life was taken from the earth.”
  25. For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead.”
