  1. The Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, so that he pursued the Israelites, who were marching out boldly.
  2. I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they will go in after them. And I will gain glory through Pharaoh and all his army, through his chariots and his horsemen.

  9. “‘Do not hate a fellow Israelite in your heart. Rebuke your neighbor frankly so you will not share in their guilt.
  10. “‘As for those of you who are left, I will make their hearts so fearful in the lands of their enemies that the sound of a windblown leaf will put them to flight. They will run as though fleeing from the sword, and they will fall, even though no one is pursuing them.
  11. which made me hostile toward them so that I sent them into the land of their enemies—then when their uncircumcised hearts are humbled and they pay for their sin,
  12. You will have these tassels to look at and so you will remember all the commands of the Lord, that you may obey them and not prostitute yourselves by chasing after the lusts of your own hearts and eyes.
  13. Where can we go? Our brothers have made our hearts melt in fear. They say, ‘The people are stronger and taller than we are; the cities are large, with walls up to the sky. We even saw the Anakites there.’”
  14. But Sihon king of Heshbon refused to let us pass through. For the Lord your God had made his spirit stubborn and his heart obstinate in order to give him into your hands, as he has now done.
  15. Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them fade from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them.
  16. But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.
  17. Acknowledge and take to heart this day that the Lord is God in heaven above and on the earth below. There is no other.
  18. Oh, that their hearts would be inclined to fear me and keep all my commands always, so that it might go well with them and their children forever!
  19. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.
  20. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts.
  21. Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands.
  22. Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the Lord your God disciplines you.
  23. then your heart will become proud and you will forget the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.
  24. Fear the Lord

    And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God ask of you but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul,
  25. Circumcise your hearts, therefore, and do not be stiff-necked any longer.
