  1. Because of this oath, Jesus has become the guarantor of a better covenant.
  2. The High Priest of a New Covenant

    Now the main point of what we are saying is this: We do have such a high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven,

  9. Worship in the Earthly Tabernacle

    Now the first covenant had regulations for worship and also an earthly sanctuary.
  10. which had the golden altar of incense and the gold-covered ark of the covenant. This ark contained the gold jar of manna, Aaron’s staff that had budded, and the stone tablets of the covenant.
  11. For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.
  12. This is why even the first covenant was not put into effect without blood.
  13. He said, “This is the blood of the covenant, which God has commanded you to keep.”

  15. How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?
  16. to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.

    Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep,
