  1. For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.

  14. Arise, go to Paddan-aram, to the house of Bethuel your mother’s father; and from there take to yourself a wife from the daughters of Laban, your mother’s brother.
  15. Then Isaac sent Jacob away, and he went to Paddan-aram to Laban, son of Bethuel the Aramean, the brother of Rebekah, the mother of Jacob and Esau.
  16. and that Jacob had obeyed his father and his mother and had gone to Paddan-aram.

  20. He also told it to his father as well as to his brothers; and his father rebuked him and said to him, “What is this dream that you have had? Am I and your mother and your brothers actually going to come to bow down to the ground before you?”
  21. And as he raised his eyes and saw his brother Benjamin, his mother’s son, he said, “Is this your youngest brother, of whom you spoke to me?” Then he said, “May God be gracious to you, my son.”
  22. And we said to my lord, ‘We have an old father and a little boy born in our father’s old age. Now his brother is dead, so he alone is left of his mother, and his father loves him.’
  23. Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Go ahead.” So the girl went and called the child’s mother.
  24. “Honor your father and your mother, so that your days may be prolonged on the land which the Lord your God gives you.
  25. “And one who strikes his father or his mother shall certainly be put to death.
