  1. But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?

  11. And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ a King.
  12. And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God.
  13. And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.
  14. Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?
  15. And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
  16. For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
  17. And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ.
  18. And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that prophet?
  19. He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.
  20. Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him.
  21. The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.
  22. Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?
  23. And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.
  24. And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.
  25. But, lo, he speaketh boldly, and they say nothing unto him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is the very Christ?
