  1. But to the tribe of Levi he gave no inheritance, since the food offerings presented to the Lord, the God of Israel, are their inheritance, as he promised them.

  19. God’s Promise to David

    After the king was settled in his palace and the Lord had given him rest from all his enemies around him,

  21. Sovereign Lord, you are God! Your covenant is trustworthy, and you have promised these good things to your servant.
  22. So the king said to Shimei, “You shall not die.” And the king promised him on oath.
  23. and that the Lord may keep his promise to me: ‘If your descendants watch how they live, and if they walk faithfully before me with all their heart and soul, you will never fail to have a successor on the throne of Israel.’
