Micah 4-5

New American Standard Bible

Peaceful Latter Days

4 And it will come about in the ^(A)last days
That the ^(B)mountain of the house of the Lord
Will be established ^[a]as the chief of the mountains.
It will be raised above the hills,
And the ^(C)peoples will stream to it.
²^(D)Many nations will come and say,
“^(E)Come and let’s go up to the mountain of the Lord
And to the house of the God of Jacob,
So that ^(F)He may teach us about His ways,
And that we may walk in His paths.”
For ^(G)from Zion will go forth the law,
And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
³And He will ^(H)judge between many peoples
And render decisions for mighty, ^[b]distant nations.
Then they will beat their swords ^(I)into plowshares,
And their spears into pruning hooks;
Nation will not lift a sword against nation,
And never again will they ^[c]train for war.
⁴Instead, each of them will ^(J)sit under his vine
And under his fig tree,
With ^(K)no one to make them afraid,
Because the ^(L)mouth of the Lord of armies has spoken.
⁵Though all the peoples walk,
Each in the ^(M)name of his god,
As for us, ^(N)we will walk
In the name of the ^(O)Lord our God forever and ever.

⁶“On that day,” declares the Lord,
“I will assemble those who ^(P)limp
And ^(Q)gather the scattered,
Those whom I have afflicted.
⁷I will make those who limp a ^(R)remnant,
And those who ^[d]have strayed a mighty nation,
And the ^(S)Lord will reign over them on Mount Zion
From now on and forever.
⁸As for you, ^[e]^(T)tower of the flock,
^[f]Hill of the daughter of Zion,
To you it will come—
Yes, the ^(U)former dominion will come,
The kingdom of the daughter of Jerusalem.

⁹“Now, why do you ^(V)cry out loudly?
Is there no king among you,
Or has your ^(W)counselor perished,
That agony has gripped you like a woman in childbirth?
¹⁰^(X)Writhe and scream,
Daughter of Zion,
Like a woman in childbirth;
For now you will ^(Y)go out of the city,
Live in the field,
And go to Babylon.
^(Z)There you will be rescued,
^(AA)There the Lord will redeem you
From the hand of your enemies.
¹¹And now ^(AB)many nations have been assembled against you
Who say, ‘Let her be defiled,
And let our eyes ^[g]gloat over Zion!’
¹²But they do not ^(AC)know the thoughts of the Lord,
And they do not understand His plan;
For He has gathered them like sheaves to the threshing floor.
¹³Arise and ^(AD)thresh, daughter of Zion,
For I will make your horn iron,
And I will make your hoofs bronze,
So that you may ^(AE)pulverize many peoples,
And ^(AF)dedicate to the Lord their unjust profit,
And their wealth to the Lord of all the earth.

Birth of the King in Bethlehem

5 “^[h]Now muster yourselves in troops, daughter of troops;
^[i]They have laid siege against us;
With a rod they will ^(AG)strike the judge of Israel on the cheek.
²^[j]But as for ^(AH)you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
Too little to be among the clans of Judah,
From ^(AI)you One will come forth for Me to be ^(AJ)ruler in Israel.
His times of coming forth are ^(AK)from long ago,
From the days of eternity.”
³Therefore He will ^(AL)give them up until the time
When she ^(AM)who is in labor has given birth.
Then the ^(AN)remainder of His kinsmen
Will return to the sons of Israel.
⁴And He will arise and ^(AO)shepherd His flock
In the strength of the Lord,
In the majesty of the name of the Lord His God.
And they will ^[k]remain,
Because ^[l]at that time He will be great
To the ^(AP)ends of the earth.
⁵This One ^(AQ)will be our peace.
When the ^(AR)Assyrian invades our land,
When he tramples on our ^[m]citadels,
Then we will raise against him
Seven shepherds and eight leaders of people.
⁶They will ^(AS)shepherd the land of Assyria with the sword,
The land of ^(AT)Nimrod at its entrances;
And He will ^(AU)rescue us from the Assyrian
When he invades our land,
And when he tramples our territory.

⁷Then the ^(AV)remnant of Jacob
Will be among many peoples
Like ^(AW)dew from the Lord,
Like ^(AX)showers on vegetation
That do not wait for man,
Or delay for ^[n]mankind.
⁸The remnant of Jacob
Will be among the nations,
Among many peoples
^(AY)Like a lion among the animals of the forest,
Like a young lion among flocks of sheep,
Which, if he passes through,
^(AZ)Tramples and ^(BA)tears,
And there is ^(BB)no one who can rescue.
⁹Your hand will be ^(BC)lifted up against your adversaries,
And all your enemies will be eliminated.

¹⁰“And it will be on that day,” declares the Lord,
“^(BD)That I will eliminate your ^(BE)horses from among you,
And destroy your chariots.
¹¹I will also eliminate the ^(BF)cities of your land,
And tear down all your ^(BG)fortifications.
¹²I will eliminate ^(BH)sorceries from your hand,
And you will have no fortune-tellers.
¹³^(BI)I will eliminate your carved images
And your memorial stones from among you,
So that you will no longer bow down
To the work of your hands.
¹⁴I will uproot your ^[o]^(BJ)Asherim from among you,
And destroy your cities.
¹⁵And I will ^(BK)execute vengeance in anger and wrath
On the nations which have not obeyed.”

Revelation 12

The Woman, Israel

12 A great ^(A)sign appeared ^(B)in heaven: ^(C)a woman ^(D)clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars; ²and she was pregnant and she *^(E)cried out, being in labor and in pain to give birth.

The Red Dragon, Satan

³Then ^(F)another sign appeared in heaven: and behold, a great red ^(G)dragon having ^(H)seven heads and ^(I)ten horns, and on his heads were ^(J)seven crowns. ⁴And his tail *swept away a ^(K)third of the stars of heaven and ^(L)hurled them to the earth. And the ^(M)dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she gave birth ^(N)he might devour her Child.

The Male Child, Christ

⁵And ^(O)she gave birth to a Son, a male, who is going to ^[a]^(P)rule all the ^[b]nations with a rod of iron; and her Child was ^(Q)caught up to God and to His throne. ⁶Then the woman fled into the wilderness where she *had a place prepared by God, so that there ^[c]she would be nourished for ^(R)1,260 days.

The Angel, Michael

⁷And there was war in heaven, ^(S)Michael and his angels waging war with the ^(T)dragon. The dragon and ^(U)his angels waged war, ⁸and they did not prevail, and there was no longer a place found for them in heaven. ⁹And the great ^(V)dragon was thrown down, the ^(W)serpent of old who is called the devil and ^(X)Satan, who ^(Y)deceives the whole ^[d]world; he was ^(Z)thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. ¹⁰Then I heard ^(AA)a loud voice in heaven, saying,

“Now the ^(AB)salvation, and the power, and the ^(AC)kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the ^(AD)accuser of our brothers and sisters has been thrown down, the one who accuses them before our God day and night. ¹¹And they ^(AE)overcame him because of ^(AF)the blood of the Lamb and because of ^(AG)the word of their testimony, and they ^(AH)did not love their life even ^[e]when faced with death. ¹²For this reason, ^(AI)rejoice, you heavens and ^(AJ)you who dwell in them. ^(AK)Woe to the earth and the sea, because ^(AL)the devil has come down to you with great wrath, knowing that he has only ^(AM)a short time.”

¹³And when the ^(AN)dragon saw that he was thrown down to the earth, he persecuted ^(AO)the woman who gave birth to the male Child. ¹⁴But the ^(AP)two wings of the great eagle were given to the woman, so that she could fly ^(AQ)into the wilderness to her place, where she *was nourished for ^(AR)a time, times, and half a time, away from the presence of the serpent. ¹⁵And the ^(AS)serpent hurled water like a river out of his mouth after the woman, so that he might cause her to be swept away with the flood. ¹⁶^[f]But the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and drank up the river which the dragon had hurled out of his mouth. ¹⁷So the dragon was enraged with the woman, and went off to ^(AT)make war with the rest of her ^[g]^(AU)children, who ^(AV)keep the commandments of God and ^(AW)hold to the testimony of Jesus.
