¹¹ “^(A)I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd ^(B)lays down His life for the sheep. ¹² He who is a hired hand, and not a ^(C)shepherd, who is not the owner of the sheep, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf snatches them and scatters the flock. ¹³ He flees because he is a hired hand and does not care about the sheep. ^14 (D)I am the good shepherd, and ^(E)I know My own, and My own know Me, ¹⁵ just as ^(F)the Father knows Me and I know the Father; and ^(G)I lay down My life for the sheep. ¹⁶ And I have ^(H)other sheep that are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will listen to My voice; and they will become ^(I)one flock, with ^(J)one shepherd. ¹⁷ For this reason the Father loves Me, because I ^(K)lay down My life so that I may take it back.

A Psalm of David.

³ And so He told them this parable, saying, ⁴ “^(A)What man among you, if he has a hundred sheep and has lost one of them, does not leave the other ninety-nine in the ^[a]open pasture and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it? ⁵ And when he has found it, he puts it on his shoulders, rejoicing. ⁶ And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, because I have found my sheep that was lost!’ ⁷ I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need of repentance.
