Songs of praise

12 In that day you will say:

‘I will praise you, Lord.
    Although you were angry with me,
your anger has turned away
    and you have comforted me.
Surely God is my salvation;
    I will trust and not be afraid.
The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defence[a];
    he has become my salvation.’
With joy you will draw water
    from the wells of salvation.

In that day you will say:

‘Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name;
    make known among the nations what he has done,
    and proclaim that his name is exalted.
Sing to the Lord, for he has done glorious things;
    let this be known to all the world.
Shout aloud and sing for joy, people of Zion,
    for great is the Holy One of Israel among you.’

  2. Isaiah 12:5 Or gloriously

12 And in that day thou shalt say: “O Lord, I will praise Thee; though Thou wast angry with me, Thine anger is turned away, and Thou comforted me.

Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid; for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; He also has become my salvation.”

Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation;

and in that day shall ye say: “Praise the Lord! Call upon His name! Declare His doings among the people; make mention that His name is exalted.

Sing unto the Lord, for He hath done excellent things; this is known in all the earth.

Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion! For great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee.”

Two Songs of Praise

12 In days to come, the people of Israel will sing,

Lord, we will praise you.
    You were angry with us.
But now your anger has turned away from us.
    And you have brought us comfort.
God, you are the one who saves us.
    We will trust in you.
    Then we won’t be afraid.
Lord, you are the one who gives us strength.
    You are the one who keeps us safe.
    Lord, you have saved us.”
People of Israel, he will save you.
    That will bring you joy like water brought up from wells.

In days to come, the people of Israel will sing,

“Give praise to the Lord. Make his name known.
    Tell the nations what he has done.
    Announce how honored he is.
Sing to the Lord. He has done glorious things.
    Let it be known all over the world.
People of Zion, give a loud shout!
    Sing for joy!
The Holy One of Israel is among you.
    And he is great.”
