  11. Anger

    “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder; and whoever murders will be liable to judgment.’
  12. But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire.
  13. Truly, I say to you, you will never get out until you have paid the last penny.
  14. Giving to the Needy

    “Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.
  15. so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
  16. But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
  17. “And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words.
  18. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
  19. For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you,
  20. but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
  21. that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
  22. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

  26. Do Not Be Anxious

    “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
  27. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
  28. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
  29. “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
  30. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you.
  31. You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.
  32. Ask, and It Will Be Given

    “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
  33. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.
  34. Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone?

  36. If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!

  52. A Girl Restored to Life and a Woman Healed

    While he was saying these things to them, behold, a ruler came in and knelt before him, saying, “My daughter has just died, but come and lay your hand on her, and she will live.”
  53. for she said to herself, “If I only touch his garment, I will be made well.”
  54. And if anyone will not receive you or listen to your words, shake off the dust from your feet when you leave that house or town.
  55. Truly, I say to you, it will be more bearable on the day of judgment for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah than for that town.
  56. Persecution Will Come

    “Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.
  57. Beware of men, for they will deliver you over to courts and flog you in their synagogues,
  58. and you will be dragged before governors and kings for my sake, to bear witness before them and the Gentiles.
  59. When they deliver you over, do not be anxious how you are to speak or what you are to say, for what you are to say will be given to you in that hour.
  60. Brother will deliver brother over to death, and the father his child, and children will rise against parents and have them put to death,
  61. and you will be hated by all for my name's sake. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.
  62. When they persecute you in one town, flee to the next, for truly, I say to you, you will not have gone through all the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.
  63. It is enough for the disciple to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they malign those of his household.
  64. Have No Fear

    “So have no fear of them, for nothing is covered that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known.
  65. Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father.
  66. So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven,
  67. but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.
  68. And a person's enemies will be those of his own household.
  69. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
  70. The one who receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet's reward, and the one who receives a righteous person because he is a righteous person will receive a righteous person's reward.
  71. And whoever gives one of these little ones even a cup of cold water because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward.”
  72. This is he of whom it is written, “‘Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way before you.’
  73. and if you are willing to accept it, he is Elijah who is to come.
  74. But I tell you, it will be more bearable on the day of judgment for Tyre and Sidon than for you.
  75. And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? You will be brought down to Hades. For if the mighty works done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.
  76. But I tell you that it will be more tolerable on the day of judgment for the land of Sodom than for you.”
  77. Come to Me, and I Will Give You Rest

    At that time Jesus declared, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children;
  78. yes, Father, for such was your gracious will.
  79. Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
  80. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
  81. He said to them, “Which one of you who has a sheep, if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will not take hold of it and lift it out?
  82. “Behold, my servant whom I have chosen, my beloved with whom my soul is well pleased. I will put my Spirit upon him, and he will proclaim justice to the Gentiles.
  83. He will not quarrel or cry aloud, nor will anyone hear his voice in the streets;
  84. a bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not quench, until he brings justice to victory;
  85. and in his name the Gentiles will hope.”
  86. Knowing their thoughts, he said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and no city or house divided against itself will stand.
  87. And if Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand?
  88. And if I cast out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they will be your judges.
  89. Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven people, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.
  90. And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.
  91. I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak,
  92. for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
  93. But he answered them, “An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.
  94. For just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
  95. The men of Nineveh will rise up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and behold, something greater than Jonah is here.
  96. The queen of the South will rise up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold, something greater than Solomon is here.
  97. Then it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when it comes, it finds the house empty, swept, and put in order.
  98. Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they enter and dwell there, and the last state of that person is worse than the first. So also will it be with this evil generation.”
  99. For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”
  100. For to the one who has, more will be given, and he will have an abundance, but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.
