6:1 mountains of bronze. The mountains probably symbolize the gate to heaven, though some suggest that the bronze reflects the bronze pillars of the temple (1 Kin. 7:13–22). In the first vision the riders went from the presence of God (1:10). Here the chariots are God’s emissaries of judgment who emerge from between the bronze mountains.
