2:5 a wall of fire all around. The day of full restoration is portrayed by the prophets as a second Exodus with the imagery of the pillar of fire (Is. 4:5, 6). As Israel was once protected from her enemies by God Himself, so He will again guard her from oppressors.

the glory. God’s presence is far more than protection; it is the source of all blessing for His people. The essence of the renewed covenant is, “I will be their God, and they shall be my people” (Jer. 31:33).
