1:4 true child. Lit. “legitimate son” (1 Tim. 1:2). This probably indicates that Titus was one of Paul’s converts.

Christ Jesus our Savior. As mediator of the covenant of grace, Christ is Savior (2:13; 3:6; 2 Tim. 1:10). Paul uses the title “Savior” interchangeably for both God and Christ throughout this letter (v. 3 note), thereby reflecting his belief in the deity of Christ (2:13).
