26:9 Like a thorn . . . a proverb. This saying apparently refers to a thorn piercing the hand of a person too drunk to sense it. Either the fool is too simple to perceive the significance of the proverb, or, as the thorn injures the drunkard’s hand, so fools will use the proverb to their own hurt.
