3:1–12 The three prophecies of this chapter announce the rejection and punishment of Israel’s incompetent, corrupt leadership. First, the leaders’ treatment of the oppressed people is likened to cannibalism (vv. 1–4). Second, the false prophets who led the people astray are condemned (vv. 5–7) and contrasted with Micah, who prophesies true revelations from God (v. 8). Finally, the corrupt political and religious leaders are condemned and their complacency castigated (vv. 9–12).
