10:1–20 The Lord, who accepted Aaron’s sacrifice (9:23, 24), now rejects the ministry of his sons Nadab and Abihu. His sons Eleazar and Ithamar, though sincere, fail in their first ministrations as well (vv. 16–20). These first halting steps of the Levites would characterize their history and lead to Malachi’s prophecy of a purified priesthood (Mal. 3:1–5).
