Ezek 24:16–17

24:16, 17 Customary mourning included lamenting and crying, removing headgear and covering the head with dust and ashes (Josh. 7:6; 1 Sam. 4:12; Job 2:12), removing sandals (2 Sam. 15:30; Is. 20:2), and covering the head or face (Esth. 6:12; Jer. 14:3, 4). Ezekiel would do none of these things; the ordinary practices associated with mourning were not sufficient to represent the depth of his sorrow.
