Deut 11:10

11:10 irrigated it. The precise detail of this allusion is unclear. It may refer to the sluice gates of irrigation canals (which were often opened by the gardener’s foot), or to the burdensome practice of carrying water by bucket. In contrast to the Promised Land, which had sufficient rainfall for agriculture (vv. 9, 11), arid Egypt depended heavily upon irrigation for farming.
