4:13 cloak. A heavy woolen garment used for protection against dampness and cold. Paul is anticipating the arrival of winter (v. 21).

Carpus. Mentioned nowhere else in the New Testament.

Troas. A port linking the Roman province of Asia with Macedonia across the Aegean Sea (Acts 16:7, 8 note). Paul had traveled through Troas on his second and third missionary journeys (Acts 16:8, 11; 20:5, 6). When Paul was in Troas on this fourth and final journey is not clear.

parchments. Parchment is a writing material made from the skins of animals, especially sheep or goats. Probably Paul was asking for parts of the Old Testament.
