24:10 take away the iniquity. David’s plea for forgiveness may have been granted by God before the arrival of Gad (vv. 11–13). Nevertheless, as in the case of David’s sin against Uriah and Bathsheba, forgiveness does not mean that sin will have no further consequences (v. 13; 12:13, 14).
