22:21–25 David is not laying claim to righteousness or sinlessness in any absolute sense. Rather he asserts his blamelessness with respect to his enemies and his confidence that the Lord rewards those who seek to be faithful to Him (v. 26; 1 Sam. 26:23). If this were not the case, David would surely be classed among “the haughty” (v. 28).
