28:1 Ahaz. Ahaz reigned together with Jotham 735–732 b.c., and then as sole monarch for sixteen years, 732–716 b.c. If he was twenty when he took office, he was thirty-six when he died, and he would have been only eleven when his son Hezekiah was born (29:1). Some ancient sources give the figure “twenty-five” instead of “twenty” for his age at succession.
