1 Thess 4:5

4:5 like the Gentiles. Pagan society in Paul’s day provided little inducement to sexual purity. Marital infidelity, at least for men, was the norm, and some of the pagan religions from which the Thessalonians had been freed sanctioned gross sexual misconduct in their rituals. The Christian gospel brings a moral awakening and a fresh revelation of God’s righteous standards.
