1 Chr 21:1–22:1

21:1–22:1 The history continues with David’s discovery of the temple site (17:1–29:30 note). The theme of military victory (19:1–20:8) leads to an account of David’s census. With two major exceptions, the account follows 2 Sam. 24 closely (21:1; 21:28–22:1 and notes). Second Samuel reports how David brought trouble on the nation but successfully interceded on its behalf. In Chronicles the point of the story is to tell how God led David to discover the holy site for the temple.
